Scientific Editing

I currently work part-time for a neurobiology researcher helping her write research papers and grant proposals, and I might be interested in other word-crafting projects related to biological research and/or environmental issues. I spend most of my time planning and leading events and otherwise making things happen. I find it very restful, sometimes, to immerse in a text and just try to make it good.

I have a bachelors degree in biology and have kept up with the field enough to be a quick study. I very much enjoy taking a rough text and turning it into a good text, or taking an almost-done text and making it polished. Sometimes this is just copy-editing, but sometimes it’s developmental editing – helping a writer clarify their thinking, figure out what they want to say, create a good organization, and craft effective sentences and paragraphs.
